Reserve Society v2 Memberships Now Available!

Barrel of Monks is pleased to announce that memberships are now available for version 2 of Reserve Society. Reserve Society is our most exclusive membership club. While we always try to make excellent beers, some of our beers are very special indeed. These are small batch, hand made, often barrel-aged beers, such that there is only a small quantity made. It is for these beers that we created Reserve Society. We want make sure that these beers are made available to those who will appreciate them the most.

Reserve Society Members will receive:

  • 4 very special, small-batch beers in 750 ml cork and cage bottles available to club members only
  • A 10% discount on beer in the taproom (Total of 15% if you are also a Brotherhood member)
  • Early access to online bottle releases for the general public
  • First dibs on v3 Barrel of Monks Reserve Society

Membership levels

  • 8 Bottles (2 per release) – $180 – ($22.50 per 750ml bottle)
  • 12 Bottles (3 per release) – $240 – ($20 per 750ml bottle)

There will be one beer released per quarter, and beers will be made available for pickup in the tasting room. Proxies for pickup can be assigned. If requested, we can hold your beers for you at the brewery until the end of the year.

Version 1 of the club was a success. We believe that the four beers in v1 were very good, and we have already had a large number of version 1 members renew their membership.

For version 2, we have put together four new beers that we truly believe you will enjoy. We anticipate that all four beers in year two will be barrel aged, as they were in version 1. Although these beers are in various stages of their process, we have sampled them throughout and are quite pleased with their progress. Here are the first beers we have planned for the 2021 version of Reserve Society:

Planned releases:

  1. Gin Barrel Aged Golden Strong Ale with Orange Peel – A very unique beer – a full flavored golden strong ale with a hint of juniper berries from the barrel balanced with Valencia orange peel
  2. Sauvignon Blanc Barrel Aged Black Tie Brut – Black Tie Brut is a dry blonde ale that we have aged for over a year in a French Oak Sauvignon Blanc barrel, giving it wine-like character and light acidity.
  3. TBD
  4. TBD

As these are very small batch beers, there are only a limited number of memberships available. We expect that these will sell out, as they did for v1, so get your membership now, by clicking HERE.

2020 Holiday Events!

We are all about the holidays at Barrel of Monks, and have several holiday themed events that we are excited to share with you.

First on the list is a special Holiday Food and Beer Pairing to be held on Sunday December 6 from 12-5PM. We have worked together with Cheffrey Eats to come up with a set of pairings that are sure to please. The menu we have planned is:

Bacon Wrapped Figs paired with Figgy Terno
Cranberry Sweet & Sour Turkey Meatball  paired with Cranberry Wizard Wit
Brie & Sliced Walnut Phyllo Cup paired with Ginger Tripel
Pumpkin Spiced Cheesecake paired with Father Christmas

All for only $20. We suggest you get your tickets in advance by clicking HERE

If you choose to wait until the day of the event, we do recommend you get there early so as not to miss out on this holiday treat! Cheffrey will only prepare 100 of these.

Next up is a unique event for us. We are working with Jen of Jen Blossoms Design and Events to host a Holiday Wreath Brews and Boughs Party. Jen will be your guide to making a deluxe holiday evergreen wreath while you enjoy one of our beers! This is an in-person, outdoor workshop; class size is limited and social distancing will be in place. Jen will provide all the materials you need to make a special 24-26″ wreath, including frame, fresh greenery, decorations, and tools. She does request that you bring your own garden gloves and perhaps an apron to keep your clothes neat.

The workshop will run from 6-8 PM on Wednesday December 9 at Barrel of Monks, and the cost is $65 which includes a draft beer from our tasting room. There is nothing like the smell of evergreen (and a Barrel of Monks beer) to put you in the holiday spirit!

More details and tickets are available HERE

And last but not least, we are thrilled to announce the release of the Rum Barrel Aged version of Father Christmas. This year’s barrel aged version was aged for several months in a Caribbean rum barrel, and it is truly delicious. The Christmas spices in the beer are accentuated by the spicy character of the rum, and the oak adds a richness that is perfect for this holiday favorite! As we do each year, the bottle is wax dipped for an extra special touch. This is a limited edition beer that should age very well and will make a great Holiday gift for that beer lover on your list!

As many of you know, we sold out of this year’s regular Father Christmas in under 24 hours, and our supply of the barrel aged version is even smaller, so don’t miss out on this one. Click HERE to reserve your bottles for pickup in the tasting room during regular hours on Saturday December 12. Any bottles not pre-sold will be available on the 12th.

As we start to wind down this very challenging year of 2020, the owners, management, and staff at Barrel of Monks would like to send out the most sincere wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season. We deeply appreciate your support and have each of you to thank for our ability to continue to strive to make the best beers we can. Thank you all and Happy Holidays!
